MeSH is a hierarchical vocabulary covering biomedical and health-related topics.
GeneOntology is a hierarchical vocabulary for molecular biology covering cellular components, biological processes and molecular functions.

Refine your search to focus on articles mentioning certain concepts, e.g. you require "cardiovascular diseases" and "chemicals and drugs" and exclusively articles mentioning these terms, their synonyms or descendant concepts are returned.

With the HotTopic feature a platform is available providing various statistics on biomedical literature taking into account all PubMed abstracts.
